Screencasting — the not-so-ancient art of recording the computer screen for the entertainment and enrichment of others — has evolved into quite a Hydra of options. How do the myriad gladiators in this arena stack up? I’ve tried everything I could find that could record a little movement on the screen, and selected 8 contenders for the matchup. We’ll start this boxing match off with the free apps, and then see if the “money” apps stack enough features on to make them worth the cash.
IdleWeb is a screen saver module for Mac OS X that allows you to view websites while you aren’t using your computer. URL’s can also be dragged to the list of bookmarks from Safari.
Dilo looks up words at web dictionaires and shows the English/French/Spanish or German translation of that word. It is kind of comparable to “Babylon” for Windows, but uses a public web-dictionary instead of having a local one.
Dilo iso basically concentrated on the German language, i.e. all translation are from/to German. Specifically, there is no translation e.g. between French and English or English and Turkish.
Back home since Wednesday. Rotated to clean up flat for birthday party since and partied successfully. More visitors tomorrow.
